DENVER – Denver Film and Denver Arts & Venues today announced the lineup for the 27th edition of Film on the Rocks, the annual summer series featuring live performances and beloved films under the stars at the iconic Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre. Denver Film Member tickets for the five-event season are available now, while tickets for the general public go on sale May 1 at 10 a.m. at denverfilm.org. Tickets, including fees, are $25 for general admission and $50 for VIP reserved seating, which includes premium location seating near the front of the amphitheatre. The season kicks off Monday, June 8 with a presentation of the beloved fairy-tale adventure The Princess Bride and continues through Monday, August 10 with a screening of the groundbreaking dinosaur blockbuster Jurassic Park presented in partnership with National Geographic Live. In between, the schedule delivers the Academy Award-winning horror Sinners, a 20th anniversary presentation of heartfelt indie comedy Little Miss Sunshine presented in partnership with the Sundance Film Festival, and a 15th anniversary presentation of the riotous hit Bridesmaids.

 

“Film on the Rocks is one of those quintessential Colorado summer experiences. Iconic films, live music and a vibrant crowd all coming together at Red Rocks,” said Denver Film CEO Kevin Smith. “This year’s lineup really leans into that mix of nostalgia and big-screen fun, and we can’t wait to kick things off!”

  

Gates open at 6:30 p.m. with pre-show entertainment taking the stage at 7 p.m., followed by the film presentation at 8:30 p.m. Each show will be emceed by local comedian, actor, and event host Janae Burris. Pre-show entertainment includes musical performances by School of Rock, The Reminders, Wheelchair Sports Camp, DeVotchKa and May Be Fern, as well as a special presentation by paleontologist and National Geographic Explorer Tyler Lyson.

 

“Film on the Rocks is one of Red Rocks’ longest-running traditions, and is a hit with families, visitors and Coloradans alike,” said Tad Bowman, Red Rocks venue director. “There’s no better place to catch a film under the stars.”

Then there are the younger Hoovers - the seven-year-old, would-be beauty queen Olive (Abigail Breslin) and Dwayne (Paul Dano), a Nietzsche-reading teen who has taken a vow of silence. Topping off the family is the foul-mouthed grandfather (Alan Arkin), whose outrageous behavior recently got him evicted from his retirement home.
