Denver Arts & Venues Releases Request for Proposals for McNichols Building Museum
News List
DENVER – Denver Arts & Venues (DAV) has issued a request for proposals (RFP) to identify a long-term partner in the development of a new museum at the McNichols Civic Center Building. The museum will showcase the history and culture of Denver. The release of the RFP comes after a request for information (RFI) was released in 2024, which was used to help the City understand the interest and capabilities of potential community partners interested in the project.
“We’re excited to keep this transformational project moving forward with the release of the formal RFP,” said Jen Morris, chief of staff of DAV. “We saw a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and energy around the vision for a museum at the McNichols Building during the RFI process, and we can’t wait to see the formal proposals that put us one step closer to making it a reality.”
The McNichols Building, originally opened in 1910 as a Carnegie Library and renovated in 2012 by DAV, will add a tenant museum as part of a larger revitalization project to enhance the activation of the building and the surrounding Civic Center Park while making it a destination for visitors to downtown. The building is currently closed to the public as the revitalization project gets underway.
Interested parties can view the RFP, including submission instructions, response form and supporting documents, under the “Request for Proposal” dropdown menu under the heading "Request for Proposal for Museum at McNichols Civic Center" by clicking here.
Proposals should be submitted no later than 12 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16.
Additionally, proposers are encouraged to attend the pre-proposal meeting, taking place in-person on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the McNichols Civic Center Building (Second Floor), 144 W. Colfax Ave., Denver. Interested attendees are asked to RSVP to DAV_Downtown@denvergov.org by Dec. 4, 2025.
