SUSTAINABILITY

Denver Arts & Venues is committed to the values of sustainability and is making every effort to reduce waste at the Five Points Jazz Festival. Please help us by being part of the solution.

Vendors are required to use compostable or recyclable materials for serving customers, and also must leave zero waste at their vending site.

Help us make a positive impact by sourcing food packaging that can be reused, recycled, and/or composted. On this site, you will find pre-approved products that meet your needs while also meeting our sustainability guidelines. Eco-Products is extending our Denver Arts & Venues partners special pricing (25% off) on these products to help support our zero waste efforts.

Festival-goers will help us divert trash from the landfill by sorting garbage at waste stations. However, vendors must avoid using these patron waste stations and keep any vendor trash (waste from packaging, ingredients, etc. to prepare your food and beverage service) in the “back of house” until the end of the event. At that time, we may be able to accept pre-sorted recycling, and limited trash from vendors.

Together, this approach will help us divert as much material from the landfill as possible while ensuring that we keep the Five Points neighborhood clean of event trash.

RECYCLABLES

  • What is LOCALLY recyclable:
    • Beverage bottles: plastic (#1, #2, #5) and glass.
    • Aluminum cans.
    • Aluminum foil.
    • Paper.
  • Common troublesome items
    • Plastic cups (#3, #4, #6, #7).
    • Heavily dyed paper: compostable, not recyclable.

LANDFILL

  • What goes into the landfill:
    • All remaining items.
  • Alternatives to reduce the waste that goes in the landfill:
    • Don't use single-serve condiments. Instead, buy in bulk and let customers serve themselves.
    • Food handling gloves: consider compostable gloves.
