Experience Skynets Over Downtown up close on a special walking tour with artist Patrick Shearn and the team that brought it to life.

About This Tour

Join internationally acclaimed artist Patrick Shearn of Poetic Kinetics and members of the City’s Skynets Over Downtown project team for a special behind-the-scenes walking tour through Downtown Denver. Pause for a moment. Look up. Listen closely. What patterns in nature do you see, and how do the sounds of the city and wind interact? Experience the breathtaking movement, color, and energy of this temporary aerial art installation series before it leaves Denver this fall. Hear from the artist about his inspiration and creative process, and from City staff about the engineering challenges and collaboration behind bringing monumental kinetic artwork to life above downtown streets and public spaces.

The tour will begin at 10:30am and last approximately 1.5 hours. Tour participants should meet at “Quaking Gold” near 16th Street and Glenarm Plaza, outside The Paramount Theater (1621 Glenarm Place). Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, grab a coffee or beverage from a local business, and mingle with the artist and project team under the Skynet beginning at 10 a.m. The tour will conclude at Denver Union Station around noon. From there, participants can take the 16th Street FreeRide bus back to the starting point, enjoy a leisurely walk back downtown, or stay and explore Union Station’s dining options or nearby Oktoberfest festivities.

This tour is free to attend, but registration is required. If you cannot attend after registering, please cancel your order to release your ticket so that another art lover may take your spot. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Tours are rain or shine, however, should conditions become dangerous because of severe weather, Denver Public Art reserves the right to cancel or delay/pause the tour.
