PSYAH:
PAST PROJECTS

Since its inception in 2014, Denver Arts & Venues has funded more than 70 P.S. You Are Here projects.

2015-2022 Highlights

Markus Puskar: Denver’s Mural Coloring Book (2022):

Artist Markus Puskar created a Coloring Book Mural at the Sunken Gardens basketball court. Families, neighbors, Denver residents and visitors of all ages were invited to join their community to color-in the black and white mural using chalk, contributing colors to an array of shapes and forms and enlivening the Sunken Gardens basketball court even further. The results of these neighborhood events were a dazzling array of color representing the community.

Edica Pacha: UndocuAmerica (2022):

UndocuAmerica was a series of wheatpaste murals installed at six locations in Boulder and six locations in Denver. The artist, Edica Pacha, worked with Motus Theatre to photograph nine participants, who also worked with Motus to share their stories with the community through a series of monologues now available as podcasts at www.motustheater.org/motusmonologuespodcast.

Bluebird Business Improvement District: Bluebird Haiku (2020):

Haikus based on the essence and history of Colfax Avenue and the Bluebird-area businesses, written and submitted by public were selected for this project. Students from East High School created stencils of the winning haikus and applied them to neighborhood sidewalks.

Montbello 2020: Home Sweet Montbello (2019):

Local artist Thomas (Detour) Evans designed a color-blended public art mural that to revitalize a major drainage canal in the Montbello area with an impactful message. "Seize the Day" greeted residents on their commute out of Montbello, and "Home Sweet Montbello” welcomed them back.

Balfour at Riverfront Park: This Land Over Time (2018):

This site-specific installation consisted of three archways (roughly 12 ‘x 16’ x 8’ each) built from Colorado pine beetle kill wood lined with hand painted panels depicting the rich history of the South Platte River area. Senior residents at Balfour at Riverfront Park worked with artist Eric Robert Dallimore, Think 360 Arts and the students of the Denver Downtown Expeditionary School on these bold and contemporary installations.

Birdseed Collective: Quigg Newton Housing Development Dumpster Beautification Project (2017):

Birdseed Collective along with experienced Lead Artist/Executive Director Anthony J. Garcia, Sr. enlisted several talented artists to design and hand paint more than 60 Denver Solid Waste dumpsters in the Quigg Newton Housing Development area. These dumpsters are “public space” as they are situated on the local residential streets directly in front of residents’ front doors. This artwork transformed the experience and climate of the community through emotion and color.

Concerned Citizens of Barnum: Los Osos de Barnum Reciclan (2017):

Local artist Alexander Perrine used materials originally destined for the landfill (such as broken toys, coat hangers, plastic chairs, screws, hoses, wires, foam packaging, car parts and kitchen utensils) to create a large work of art installed at Ross-Barnum Branch Library. The project focuses on community and references the human impact on the environment.

River North Art District: 38th Street Underpass Creative Lighting Intervention (2016):

This project consisted of a creative lighting solution making the 38th Street underpass safer for all users, while enhancing the connectivity of the neighborhood and adding an artistic element to a drab and hazardous thoroughfare.

VSA Colorado/Access Gallery: Bridging and Connecting the Community (2015):

This project was designed to reach a wide variety of ages, backgrounds and abilities, through community workshops that created vibrant artworks that were later installed in various locations including Denver Public Library: Byer’s Branch, Sunken Gardens Park and Gabriel’s Community Garden.
