Event Details
Produced and presented by Japanese Arts Network, Theatre Artibus, and Luster Productions with support from Control Group Productions, Starry Night Productions, and DCPA Off-Center, as well as Denver Arts & Venues through the Denver Music Advancement Fund.
Led by a superb all-women cast, ZOTTO is an immersive and multi-sensory supernatural Japanese folktale and theatrical journey. Audiences meet three generations of Japanese American women and explore their relationship to Denver’s history. On their adventure they encounter Japanese spirits and other unexpected characters, discover hidden secrets within forgotten spaces, and engage with interactive elements that ask them to consider relationships between intention and impact.
Praised by both creative heavy-hitters and audiences for tackling the ghosts of Colorado’s past – including WWII incarceration of Japanese Americans, resettlement, and intergenerational trauma – with disarming honesty.
