Event Details
Join History Colorado and a tribal representative for a thoughtful morning of learning and discussing the historical circumstances and continuing impacts of the Sand Creek Massacre. We will especially consider Denver’s role in the Massacre and how contemporary Cheyenne and Arapaho people still feel its consequences today. Participants will build new knowledge through tribal accounts, primary source readings, images of the NPS historic site, and reflection. We will explore the newly opened exhibition “The Sand Creek Massacre: The Betrayal that Changed Cheyenne and Arapaho People Forever,” and hear from tribal representatives. Each participant will receive a copy of the exhibition book to take home as well as a syllabus for sharing and continued learning.
Free. Registration required. A light breakfast and lunch are provided. Please only register for one of the dates below. Hosted at History Colorado Center (1200 Broadway)
