About Home Dreams
The human desire for “home” is universal. In simple terms, it’s a place of respite, a shelter offering basic resources and safety. But “home” is more than protection: it’s a deep-rooted sense of belonging, made up of place, identity, culture, and relationships.
When astronauts enter the Earth’s atmosphere for the first time, many report a transformative experience called The Overview Effect: an explosion of awareness; an overwhelming sense of oneness and connection. When experienced from a new view, the world becomes a home for all of us.
Like astronauts, artists have unique perspectives that give them the ability to see and reveal these many layers of “home” to us. At a time when the central human need to secure a sense of home is at the root of so much contention globally, the artists of Home Dreams invite you, the viewer, to explore belonging and the idea of homeness through their eyes.
