56th Avenue Corridor Public Art Project. Budget: Approximately $270,000. Open to artists or artist teams residing in the Mountain State Region (CO, NM, WY, MT, AZ, NV, UT).
56th Avenue is a major corridor used by commuters, including travelers between Denver and the Denver International Airport, as well as commuters traveling to and from the neighboring Montbello and Green Valley Ranch neighborhoods. In 2017, Denver voters approved the Elevate Denver Bond Program to improve street safety and efficiency. As part of this program, 56th Avenue was widened to add two additional lanes to alleviate traffic congestion. A multi-use path was also added along the north side of 56th Avenue to better connect neighborhood bike lanes and the trail system at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. These improvements were designed to enhance safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and transit users by providing additional turning lanes and improving access throughout the corridor. This new Denver Public Art piece should be dynamic and explore the concepts of motion and energy, as well as be captivating to all trail users, including pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. The Denver Public Art selection panel strongly encourages artists with a connection to the Montbello Neighborhood. The artwork should be engaging and amplify the stories of the area, honoring the community's heritage and narratives. Interested artists may submit qualifications at https://artist.callforentry.org/festivals_unique_info.php?ID=13187 through Monday, April 8, 11:59 p.m.
This event will be hosted on Zoom. Interested applicants are asked to register to get information on how to join prior to the event.
