Artist Ratha Sok on the mural:
As a Westwood artist, Ratha Sok I am proud to share this special collaboration with the US Census 2020 and Far East center of Denver, Colorado. Far East Center is a highlight of our city, especially for the Asian community at large. With it being one of the few ethnic centers that cater to the population it is essential to the community. With a combination of traditional East and the West of Westwood Denver this mural focuses on the freedom that many of the minority groups have experienced in this area as refugees and immigrants. The oriental birds symbolize freedom. Along with the birds there are details of the Denver experience, the snow and the progression in which the branches represent. It is an honor to be painting this piece as it will be a part of this community.
